Aloo Matar Recipe
Simple aloo matar sabzi — potato and peas in light onion-tomato gravy. The bachelor's survival recipe, done right.
Ingredients
- 3 potatoes, cubed
- 1 cup green peas
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Coriander, salt to taste
How to Make Aloo Matar
- Heat oil, add cumin. Add onion, sauté 3 mins till translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree. Cook 5 mins till oil separates.
- Add turmeric, chilli powder, salt. Cook 1 min.
- Add potatoes, peas. Mix well, add 1.5 cups water. Cover, simmer 15 mins.
- Finish with garam masala, coriander. Serve with roti or puri.
