Jeera Rice Recipe
Fluffy jeera rice — basmati tempered with cumin and ghee. The ideal side for dal makhani, rajma, or any curry.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups basmati rice
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cups water
- Salt to taste
How to Make Jeera Rice
- Wash rice, soak 15 mins. Drain.
- Heat ghee in a heavy pot. Add cumin, wait for it to crackle. Add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon.
- Add drained rice, sauté 1 min. Add water and salt, bring to boil.
- Cover, cook on low 10 mins. Switch off, rest 5 mins.
- Fluff with fork before serving. Perfect with any dal or curry.
