Poha Recipe
Classic Maharashtrian poha — flattened rice with onion, peanuts, and curry leaves. 15-minute breakfast, endlessly customisable.
Ingredients
- 2 cups poha (thick variety)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp sugar
- Lemon, coriander, salt to taste
How to Make Poha
- Rinse poha in water quickly, drain, let stand 5 mins (don't soak).
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds. When they crackle, add peanuts, curry leaves, green chilli.
- Add onion, sauté till translucent (3 mins). Add turmeric.
- Add drained poha, salt, sugar. Mix gently. Cook 3 mins covered on low.
- Finish with lemon juice and coriander. Serve hot with chai.
