Upma Recipe
South Indian rava upma — roasted semolina with veggies, curry leaves, and a ghee finish. Savoury breakfast that keeps you full till lunch.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rava (sooji)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup mixed veggies (carrot, peas, beans)
- 2 green chillies
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- Curry leaves, ginger
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp ghee
- Salt, lemon to taste
How to Make Upma
- Dry roast rava on low flame 5 mins till aromatic. Reserve.
- Heat ghee, add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal. Sauté till dals turn golden.
- Add curry leaves, green chilli, ginger, onion. Sauté till onion softens.
- Add mixed veggies, sauté 3 mins. Add water, salt, bring to rolling boil.
- Slowly add roasted rava, stirring constantly. Cover, cook 2 mins. Finish with lemon juice.
